SYS Technology Announces World's Fastest, Commercially-Available x86 PC:
At 1000MHz (1GHz) the Sys Cold-Fusion 1000 Marks
a Milestone in Personal Computer History

COMDEX Fall '99, Las Vegas, NV (November 15, 1999) - SYS Technology today announced the latest and fastest of its renowned Cold-Fusion PCs, the SYS Cold-Fusion 1000. The new system combines AMD's highly acclaimed Athlon processor, KryoTech's world-renowned vapor phase refrigeration technology, and Sys' knack for finding the last ounce of system performance, to produce the world's fastest, commercially-available, x86 PC. "Thermally accelerated" to 1GHz, the system provides 3D content creators, CAD users, financial analysts, ultra-serious gamers, and tens of thousands of processor-bottlenecked system users the highest level of performance available in the marketplace today.

The SYS Cold-Fusion 1000 is one of the first computers to utilize the new Athlon (K7) processor from AMD, and the only one available from a nationally recognized and respected system integrator to be teamed with KryoTech's vapor phase cooling sub-system. By using thermal acceleration, Sys is able to boost the Athlon processor's already impressive performance to an unprecedented 1000MHz (1GHz).

Based on extensive data compiled by AMD, and confirmed by hundreds of PC media editors worldwide, the Athlon processor significantly outperforms sixth-generation processors running at the same clock speed and using external L2 caches. And it does so at a lower price per megahertz. One key to this performance advantage is the Athlon's 200MHz Alpha EV6 system bus, an industry first. The Athlon also boasts a 128KBs L1 cache and L2 caches scalable to 8MB.

Utilizing a KryoTech vapor phase refrigeration sub-system built into the base of the system, the SYS Cold-Fusion 1000 boosts performance by cooling the Athlon processor to -40 degrees Celsius (-40ºC). [Vapor phase refrigeration is the same technology used in refrigerators and air conditioners. See http://www.kryotech.com/vapor.asp for a brief discussion.]

In its base configuration, the SYS Cold-Fusion 1000 includes 128MB of high-speed PC100 SDRAM, dual 9GB, 7200 rpm UDMA/66 hard drives, Promise FastTrak66 IDE RAID controller, NVIDIA GeForce 256-based video card (32MB), Kenwood 72X True-X CD-ROM drive, gorgeous 19" (18.0" viewable) monitor, Vortex2 SuperQuad PCI sound card (OEM), Altec Lansing ACS54 5-piece speaker system, 56K/V.90 WinModem with voice capabilities, and Windows 98 Second Edition. As configured, the system is priced at $4299. Available options include alternate video cards, SCSI hard drives and controllers, additional system memory, and Windows NT 4.0. Shipments will begin in late November. Workstation variations will be announced shortly.

Sys also offers other Athlon-based systems, without the KryoTech cooling sub-system, with base prices starting at $2479, FOB Cypress, California. Those configurations are already shipping.

The system is backed by a limited six year warranty on memory, five years on labor, and three years on parts (excluding KryoTech-supplied components). There is a one year limited warranty for parts and labor on the KryoTech-supplied components (CPU, chassis, power supply, motherboard and cooling sub-system). Also included is one year of unlimited 24-hour/7-day, toll-free telephone technical support and first year on-site service (USA, 50-states). Restrictions apply.
