SYS Technology Announces 1.8GHz SYS Cold-Fusion Systems
May 10, 2001 - SYS Technology today announced updates to its highly acclaimed Cold-Fusion desktop PC and workstation product lines, the SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 Desktop and SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 Workstation. Combining AMD's Athlon processor with 266MHz front-side bus (FSB), PC2100 DDR SDRAM memory, world-renowned vapor phase refrigeration technology from KryoTech (SuperG2), and Sys' knack for finding the last ounce of system performance, the latest SYS Cold-Fusions are the world's fastest, commercially-available, x86 PCs. Orders are being accepted now, shipments are expected to begin in mid-June.
"Thermally accelerated" to 1800MHz (1.8GHz) and above, the new systems provides 3D content creators, CAD/MCAD users, financial analysts, ultra-serious gamers, and tens of thousands of processor-bottlenecked system users the highest level of performance available in the marketplace today.
The Athlon processor in the SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 is "chilled" by KryoTech's vapor phase cooling sub-system. Built into the base of the system unit, the cooling sub-system boosts performance by cooling the processor to -40 degrees Celsius (-40ºC) and below. [Vapor phase refrigeration is the same technology used in modern refrigerators and air conditioners.]
In its base configuration, the SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 Desktop includes 256MB of PC266 DDR SDRAM, IBM 30GB, 7200 rpm ATA/100 hard drive, Leadtek WinFast GeForce3 video card with 64MB RAM, 50X CD-ROM drive, ViewSonic GS790 19" monitor (18" viewable), integrated Creative Labs' Sound Blaster CT5880 audio, Altec Lansing speaker system, 56K v.90 modem, and Windows 98 Second Edition operating system. System pricing is available on the Sys website (www.sys.com). Available options include additional system memory, alternate video cards, hard drives and controllers, and Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 Workstation, or Windows 2000 Professional.
The base SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 Workstation configuration will include the highly acclaimed Fire GL2 workstation-class graphics accelerator and a ViewSonic PF790 19" monitor (18" viewable). SCSI hard drives and video accelerator options from 3Dlabs, ELSA, and Matrox will also be available. [Dual processor-ready configurations are expected to be available in mid-2001.] The SYS Cold-Fusion 1800 is backed by a limited six year warranty on memory, five years on labor, and three years on other parts (excluding KryoTech-supplied components). There is a one year limited warranty for parts and labor on the KryoTech-supplied components (CPU, motherboard, chassis, power supply, and cooling sub-system). Also included is one year of unlimited 24-hour/7-day, toll-free telephone technical support and first year on-site service (USA and Canada). Extended warranties are available. Restrictions apply.
