Compare SYS Technology to the Competition

Pre-sale checklist
SYS Technology The Competition
Experience green checkmark
Sys has been building and servicing world-class desktops, workstations, and servers for over 15 years (since 1988). Our Sales team is thoroughly familiar with computers and the technologies upon which they are based. Our tech teams know how to properly configure and support the systems we build. Simply stated, "been there, done that"—1000s of times.
red X mark
Most manufacturers have only a few years of system manufacturing and support experience. Look closely at their history—or lack of it. While tier-one manufacturers may have more years on the books, we build better systems.
Competitive Reviews green checkmark
Sys systems receive consistent, exemplary, competitive reviews in major, independent, industry publications such as PC World, PC Magazine, Cadalyst and Desktop Engineering. Sys systems have appeared on PC World's Top PCs charts since 1999.
red X mark
Most manufacturers don't submit their systems for review. Those systems that are submitted are typically (almost always) lower performing and provide less value.
Performance green checkmark
Performance does matter! Sys' consistent, outstanding performance has been confirmed time and time again by major publications. Our systems are typically the fastest systems reviewed. Like our page banner states, we build "Lightning Fast Systems."
red X mark
Most manufacturers can only make unverified claims regarding the performance of their systems—they don't submit their systems for competitive review. Of the few manufacturers that do submit their systems for competitive review, their systems very often aren't the fastest systems reviewed—and they are almost always slower than those from Sys.
Customization green checkmark
Sys has the product knowledge, know-how, and flexibility to customize every system we build to specific customer requirements—without compromising performance or reliability. If we don't offer it "standard," please ask for a quote.
red X mark
Most manufacturers don't offer "true" customization. Only components from a typically short, pre-selected list are available. Some mainstream components—such as AMD processors—aren't available at all. Ask them to quote a one-off, custom configuration and they won't!
Compatibility green checkmark
Sys uses non-proprietary, name-brand components—components that have gone through the rigors or AMD, Intel, Microsoft, and other third party validation and certification. Components that can be readily repaired or replaced without impacting your configuration.
red X mark
Tier-one manufacturers frequently use proprietary components, especially motherboards. While these components are compatible, there are downstream implications. Please see "Discontinued Components" (below).
Reliability green checkmark
Sys uses name-brand components and performs rigorous quality assurance testing on every system to assure a high level of reliability.
red X mark
Some manufacturers can't offer a high level of reliability due to their frequent use of proprietary and/or no-name components—components that are very often inferior compared to non-proprietary, name-brand components. When you're building thousands of PCs at a time, unit-level reliability may be affected.
Software green checkmark
Sys provides the OEM (original equipment manufacturer) operating system and driver installation CDs and floppies with every system. A recovery partition may also be provided to insure you can return directly to the "factory configuration" if you need to. CDs for third-party components are also included. On the flip side, there are no hidden charges for unwanted bundled software. Only the software that you ordered is installed.
red X mark
Some manufacturers install the operating system and drivers on your hard drive and substitute a "recovery CD" for the original operating system and driver installation CDs and floppies. If you've past the end of your typical one year warranty, and your hard drive fails, will that "recovery CD" work with your replacement hard drive? Good luck! Bundled software may also be installed—whether desired or not. That software is included in the price of the system. That software may also reduce performance by consuming hard drive space and system resources.
Certification green checkmark
Sys is an Intel® Premier Provider for 2008.
red X mark
Some manufacturers don't have any kind certification.

Post-sale checklist
SYS Technology The Competition
Production Instructions green checkmark
Sys can execute customer-requested special production instructions such as setting up hard drive partitions and imaging drives on every system—at little or no additional cost and with little or no production delay.
red X mark
Many manufacturers don't even offer support for customer-requested special instructions. Ask a tier-one manufacturer to partition a hard drive, or install an image on a handful of systems, and be prepared for silence on the other end of the line—followed by a long list of "why we can't" responses (after they figure out what you're talking about). Those manufacturers that do support special instructions will typically charge, or charge more—and production delays may be "required."
Technical Support green checkmark
Sys provides first year, toll-free telephone technical support and first year onsite service with almost every system we sell. Post first year, toll-free telephone technical support is provided as long as you own your system—but only during normal Sys business hours. Sys' highly experienced technical support staff resolve your your problem as quickly as possible.
red X mark
Many manufacturers sub-contract their time-limited telephone technical support to staff in foreign countries. Such staff may be less experienced and/or less understandable.
Repair Costs green checkmark
Sys typically has lower out-of-warranty repair costs thanks to the broad and ready availability of non-proprietary, name-brand components.
red X mark
Some manufacturers have extremely high out-of-warranty repair costs due to their use of proprietary components.
Repair Duration green checkmark
Sys typically has a short to average repair duration thanks to the broad and ready availability of non-proprietary, name-brand components and our extensive troubleshooting experience.
red X mark
Some manufacturers use proprietary components and have less extensive troubleshooting experience, either of which can substantially delay the resolution of your problem.
Discontinued Components green checkmark
Sys rarely encounters problems caused by discontinued components. If a component is discontinued, an equal-to-or-better-than alternative will be provided from the same manufacturer or another high quality, name-brand manufacturer.
red X mark
Depending on the manufacturer, and how long the product has been "on the shelf," discontinued components may be more or less of a problem. If the product was also proprietary, you are at the manufacturer's mercy as to the alternative solution provided—and the time required to affect a solution can be quite long.
